Deuteronomy 28 (KJV) 1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
One of the names of God that appears in the Bible is El-Shaddai which means the God who helps and blesses abundantly with all kinds of blessings. Indeed our God is a God who blesses but the principle of HIS blessing is based on obedience out of Love for God. If you read the above mentioned verses you would know the heart of God which wants to bless HIS people since the beginning of the creation. Before Adam was made He created everything that Adam will need. In other words whatever we need is in store with God, we just have to be in the center of the will of God to receive it.
The above mentioned verses talk about two different things 1) Hearing God’s voice 2) Obeying what HE says. One of the most important thing in our faith walk is hearing what God is saying for that we need to spend quality time with God and train ourselves up to distinguish His voice and hear it. Once we have heard the voice we must obey it as well. As Abraham heard the voice of God and followed HIM to the extent that he was ready to sacrifice his only son. Bible says Obedience is better than sacrifice ( 1 Samuel 15:22). God does not want a dictatorial position in our lives He wants us to obey HIM because of our love for HIM.
A lot of people inside and outside the Church have spent their lifetime chasing the blessing and are yet not blessed but when you listen to HIS voice and do as HE said as mentioned in the above mentioned verse God says that blessings will overtake you which means that you are not running after the blessings but now the blessings are chasing you. I pray that you will be a hearer and doer of God’s command and there will be unconstrained overflow of blessings in your life and that it will become a wellspring of blessings for others. Pr. T.Bakshi
